CG Motors has introduced eco-friendly electric vehicle for the first time under Chaudhary Group. Managing Director of CG Motors, Nirvana Chaudhary, said that the introduction of electric vehicles was aimed at supporting the government’s policy of reducing trade deficit by reducing the import of petroleum products.
“The government plans to halve the consumption of petroleum products, which is a major factor in Nepal’s trade deficit, by 2050,” said Chaudhary. The company has also made Nita public on the occasion of World Environment Day. Executive Director of Nepal Electricity Authority Kulman Ghising was also present at the public event.
Speaking on the occasion, Ghising said that the government was encouraging electric vehicles. ‘Driving an electric vehicle is very cheap. Emphasis should be placed on the use of EVs as they are also environmentally friendly, ‘he said, adding that’ gradually we should also go for hydrogen vehicles.
He expressed the belief that the use of such electric and hydro vehicles would reduce the consumption of petroleum products and reduce the trade deficit. Similarly, 50 charging stations will be constructed across the country, said Ghising.
